Adverbs describe how, when and where actions happen. They modify verbs, adjectives and other adverbs. You have already seen many adverbs (e.g., già, spesso, molto, bene,, etc.). Now we will focus on how to construct adverbs from adjectives.
We make adverbs out of adjectives all the time in English. For example, “active” becomes “actively”, “unfortunate” becomes “unfortunately”, and so on. The pattern here is to simply add the suffix “-ly” to the end of the adjective. In Italian, you would use the suffix -mente. Here’s how:
(a) If an adjective ends in a consonant, take the feminine singular form and add -mente.

(b) If an adjective ends in e vowel, do not use the feminine form. Just add -mente to the end:
